Good, could be great. Water bottle holder is laughably small as is shoe section. Living in Colorado, most people have 32 oz water bottle. A pair of climbing shoes (size 41) barely fit. If I had to throw in my women’s size 9 running shoes, there is no way they could fit. This bag is better than the tote bag I have been using. After much research, I decided to but it. Others notes small bottle & shoe area & they are right. I will be using this as climbing/yoga bag, & while I like it, it’s functionality for basics like shoes & water is lacking.

I use my Powerberry (Yeah…not black), Yoga Tote for Spin classes, and everything fits, and I have lots of “stuff”. Easy to find/separate what I’m looking for/need. Have recommended this bag to quite a few people. Would buy again, in a heart beat!

These bags are fantastic. Very durable, holds a lot of items at one time. I personally love the side pockets as I use them for my shoes because I don’t like my shoes touching my clothes. The pockets on the front and back are deep and wide and help to expand the bag even more. This bag is by far my favorite and I have a lot of different overnight bags. More color selections would be a good thing to consider, however, I am quite satisfied with the graphite color. I am looking at the backpack next.

I took weeks to decide between the Yoga Tote and the Performance Duffel and actually ordered both with the intention of returning one. I ended up keeping the Yoga Tote and overall am very happy with my decision. 9 times out of 10 the Yoga Tote is big enough for my needs- though I should stress that my gym has a towel service. If I had to pack my workout clothes, shoes, shower shoes, shower supplies and a towel I don’t know that I’d have enough room in this bag. I went with the Yoga Tote because I didn’t want to feel like I was lugging a suitcase around on a daily basis. I also felt like the Performance Duffel was awkward to carry not only due to its size, but the straps. I like the Yoga Tote’s short strap/long strap choice whereas the PD only has a long strap or some handles.
Things to note: the shoe pocket is way too small to fit shoes (I wear a size 7.5). I can keep my very slim shower flip flops in there, but even then it’s a squeeze sometime. I should also say that the shoe pockets on the Performance Duffel easily accommodate shoes. I also agree with some of the other reviews that the water bottle holder is not deep enough to reliably hold a large water bottle. I have the 25 oz Swell bottle and it falls out easily. The only other thing I’d wish is that the open pocket on the inside had a snap or something to keep it closed. I use it for my shampoo, etc. and it tends to gap open.
Overall I really like this bag and would recommend it in a heartbeat. Several of my coworkers have asked about it and I’ve recommended the bag!

Oh, Apera. You producer of superior quality gym bags, you. I both love your performance duffel and yoga tote (I’ve got one of each) and am baffled by them. There’s no getting around how well made your bags are; they’re built to last. And while I’m not sure exactly how much of a threat locker room germs really are to my life, I appreciate the focus on sanitation and breathability too. But for the life of me, I just don’t understand some of the design choices you made. For the PD, I don’t understand why it’s so big. I mean it’s vast. I’m admittedly high maintenance, but despite fitting in a hair dryer, large brush, toiletries, a makeup bag, gym shoes, knee high boots, flip-flops, a work suit, jewelry options, and other things, I could still fit more, perhaps even a litter of puppies. Why? TWO water bottle holders? Do you know something about my Pilates class that I don’t? And who puts their laptop in their gym bag? Maybe it’s a Denver thing, but that just seems like asking for trouble. Also, the shoulder strap is so long on its shortest option that I, at 5’5″, am still dragging it beside me cross-body like it’s a petulant child. This whole bag is so large that forcing it into a gym locker feels like assault. Most humans just don’t need a 43L gym bag. But it’s so well made and has so many cool pockets. And the cushy strap and handles are amazing, as are the quality zippers and pulls. So as a compromise, I ordered your YT, which at 24L is just over half the size of the PD and is a much more feasible size for someone who’s not smuggling antiquities into their gym. Love the interior/exterior shoe pouch but was sad to lose the second shoe storage, which there’s somehow still room for (seriously, can you get into the business of designing Manhattan apartments?). I’m also dismayed at the junior water bottle holder – I went from two to only half of one? And the shoulder strap is still too long. (If the bags are meant for NBA players and supermodels, just lemme know.) My last real concern is the color options. My PD is in the erotically named Powerberry and is a boat of magenta, which is so pink that it feels like it’s overcompensating for something; though the light blue interior is gentler and makes finding things easier. Hoping to avoid the in-your-face femininity, I ordered my YT in the subtler graphite, which is great. However, the “Electric Lemon” interior is an understatement. It should be called Highlighter Ink Spill or maybe just Chernobyl. Crossing guards have to shield their eyes from the accents on my bag. What about yoga class says yeah, the inside of your gym bag should radiate like you’re carrying a mat and the Ark of the Covenant? I just don’t understand why gym bags have to be obnoxious colors. It’s not only meatheads who work out these days. So, can you please rethink your bags a bit? You’ve got a couple great products that could be even better with a few thoughtful tweaks. I’d re-buy a redesigned bag.

I’ve had this bag for awhile and for the most part I love it. I just checked back to see if they had done any redesign. My issue has been with the water bottle pocket which is too short to really hold a full size water bottle. I wrote to Apera (after losing my second water bottle) and they said they were looking at a redesign. I still love this bag for every other reason and have started carrying my water bottle in the shoe area. In every other way it is a perfect yoga bag. Just be aware that a full water bottle is going to fall out!

This is such a versatile and sturdy bag. I tote my laptop, files, lunch, and yoga/walking gear to and from the office with ease and style! The inside pockets and zippered bag make it so convenient to organize smaller items so I’m not rifling around in the bottom of the bag. It is the perfect size and weight.

This is the most versatile bag I have every owned! At first I was torn between the Performance Duffel and the Yoga Tote. After reviewing the features of both, I realized how similar they are. I chose the Yoga Tote as it seemed to me to be a smaller version of the Performance Duffel and something I could see myself using daily. I usually don’t take the time to write a review but couldn’t help myself with this purchase. I am happy to say that this bag has made my life easier! Like most working mom’s- I have ten places to be at once and need to have a bag I can efficiently store everything in. For me, it’s the Yoga Tote! I go to the gym 5 days a week, volunteer at the kids schools, work and client appointments, after school activities for the kids, etc. I have snacks, workout clothes, spin shoes, tablet, work files and more all stored easily and accessible at a moments notice. I also like that it has an adjustable strap and I can wear it cross-body- having my hands free is a must!

As a male consumer, I was probably not the intended target audience for this bag. But I have to say this bag has made the women in my weekly yoga class take notice. Most of the mats I see carried into class are done that way – carried. I love how my mat fits perfectly through the top area of the bag and is secured in place by the shoulder strap connection. No clips or pouches or other means to attach my mat. It’s all there together. Lots of pockets, too. And the interior storage fits several items of mine without cramming. Do I get referral incentives for telling everyone in my class that keeps asking where I got this? 🙂
